If you have more questions than answers when it comes to faith, you’re not alone. Ours is a religion that welcomes your search.

Nothing Can Go Wrong, Until It Does: Exposing Dangerous Assumptions, Their Long-Term Costs, and How We Resist

With Andréa-Victoria Lisbon, J.D., Co-Founder/Executive Director of Stand Up! Speak Up! Speak Out, Inc.

This presentation highlights how unexamined assumptions create a false sense of security that can quietly shape decisions, behaviors, and systems—until a failure makes their consequences impossible to ignore. By exposing how these assumptions form, why we cling to them, and the long-term costs they impose, the talk emphasizes the urgency of questioning “business as usual.” By understanding why we resist questioning these assumptions, community members are empowered to speak up, stay informed, and work collectively to identify risks early, strengthen local preparedness, and help ensure that preventable problems do not become shared emergencies.
